Home for the Summer

Well, two years after graduating from high school and beginning my college career at The College of Eastern Utah (it is in Price, Ut. . . a lot of people have never heard of it) I graduated with my associate of science in pre-nursing on May 5th. I am taking a short break here at home in good ol' Pleasant Grove until I go back to Price on June 23rd to start the nursing program at CEU. Yes, it will be my third year there, but hey, I got into a nursing program, what more could I ask for :)

It was a great day! My parents, my sister Gina, her husband Duncan, my brother Chad and his children Madelaine, Harrison, and Benjamin came down to Price for my graduation. As well as Chase and his parents. It was so good to have all of them there!

College of Eastern Utah

What can I say. . . CEU is great! I know a lot of people have never heard of it, or if they have the question always is "Why are you going there?" To tell you the truth I have loved going to school there. For being a two year college it really has a lot to offer.
What brought me down there was the Ambassador Scholarship. I had never really heard of the college or even been down to Price, but I decided to try out for their Ambassador program. I went down to Price for my first time, did a presentation and had an interview and a few weeks later I had a full ride scholarship to CEU to be an ambassador. For some reason it just worked out perfectly, so off to Price I went.
What an ambassador is, for those who are wondering, it is a recruitment program for the college. As an ambassador we go out to high schools all over the state and endorse CEU. We are very involved with on campus activties and programs, we give tours, give information and show the public what The College of Eastern Utah has to offer.
I could go on and tell you that CEU has the lowest tuition in the state, has an 18 to 1 student to teacher ratio, but from my experience there, that is not what made it fun. I made some of the best friends I have down there and had some of the best times. We were crazy down there in P-town. Along with the friends and the fun, I had a great experience with the College Stake. I was lucky enough to be called as the Relief Society President of one of the college wards. And I don't care what anyone says . . . CEU has the best institute program. I learned a lot down there and had tons of fun. I am looking forward to starting the nursing program there. It will definately be different from my first two years, but just as rewarding none the less.

My Best Friend

This is a good story. So about two years ago when I first went d0wn to CEU I met Chase. He was in my math class, so of course that was a great excuse to talk to him. So we started hanging out and became really good friends. After that I guess you could say we were casually dating because he still had to go on a mission. He left CEU at the beginning of the second semester to go home and get ready for his mission. We still were dating and saw each when we could despite the two hour drive.

Not too long after he left Chase got his mission call to Zurich, Switzerland. He left May 24th of 2006. Things were really good before he left, we had a lot of fun and grew quite fond of each other :) but no promises were made and Chase had a mission to focus on, so it was left at that. While Chase was on his mission and while I was starting my second year of school we wrote back and forth often (but not too much to distract either one of us) I was dating and working hard in school, while he was working hard on his mission.

One day in March I get a phone call saying Chase had been in an accident. It was the scariest thing ever! Luckily it wasn't more than a severed achilles tendon and a few broken bones in his foot, but it was serious enough to send him home for surgeries and recovery. I didn't really plan on seeing him, but he was released and wanted to see me. That was March 17th when I saw him and things have been great ever since. We have seen each other a lot since he has been home and become even better friends than before. Some things happen for a reason. . . He is finished with surgeries and is headed towards full recovery, after which he is going back out to finish his mission. Talk about dedication. He is amazing!
