So along with weddings come bridal showers. This is the best part though ;) With my duty as maid of honor and a good friend, I have had the privilege of throwing three bridal showers. The first one was down at school before graduation. This one was for Katie. She actually is already married, she got married on June 8. Her shower was a lot of fun though. Sarin and I did what we could with a tight college student budget and what we had for hosting, which consisted of dishes collected from various roommates, and a lounge in the dorm where we had the shower. It was only inconvenient when the occasional baseball player would walk through and wonder what we were doing or when a study group came in to study for finals. Needless to say they didn't stay long . . . It is funny to see the difference between a shower thrown by an in-law, cousin etc, compared to one thrown by a roommate and friend down at college. We did a good job though, the food was good, the games were fun and all that mattered was the company (and of course the gifts they brought). . . and believe me, college girls can get a little crazy with the gifts.
The next shower, for Sarin, was a blast, but a little difficult because everyone was home for the summer. I figured that Pleasant Grove was a pretty good central point for everyone to meet between Price and Salt Lake. This one was a little different because it was at my house and I had my mom to help me. And get this, we had Hostess Ding Dongs and Ho Ho's for desert . . . get it ;), but don't think I am the tacky one here, it was my brother Chad's idea. . . jk Not many people came, but just most of our close friends, so it was good to see them all and we had a lot of fun with the original BCG's. I am really excited for Sarin's wedding, and not just because I am the maid of honor. . . but because we are such good friends. We really have become very close while we were at CEU. She was the one who wasn't going to get married too soon. She wanted to live it up while she was single, go on a mission and everything, now that it is here, it is weird that she is getting married, but at the same time really great. Jed (her fiance') is a great guy and they are great together. Man, her wedding is coming soon, July 14th! My little Sarin is all grown up (well for the most part :) I am really happy for her and wish her and Jed all the luck in the world!!
This shower is probably one of the last showers I will throw, at least for a while that is. Megan has been my best friend and across the street neighbor since 5th grade. We have gone through some of elementary school, all of junior high and high school together. Even though she is a year younger than me and we have had quite a bit of distance from that, we have stayed best friends and will for a very long time. Wow, it still takes me back a little when I think Megan is getting married. . . we have talked about growing up and getting married for as long as I can remember. We have each had at least half a dozen husbands imagined, and how our kids would look with each new crush. The best was when we dated best friends, Scott and Chris. Chris was Megan's age and Scotty was my age, despite their one year age difference they were best friends, just like me and Megan. We had the whole thing planned, while Scott and Chris were on their missions, Megan and I would go to college together and be roommates. When they got home we would marry them and have houses right down the street from each other. We would have kids the same age and raise them together and perhaps they would be best friends as well. And just imagine what we thought of when we went on a date with brothers. . . Life sure changes huh? Scott and Chris were just our friends by the end of high school, Megan and I didn't even go to the same college, and Megan is getting married before me. . . I'm sure we both wouldn't change how anything happened for the world though. Although our plans have changed over the years, it still hasn't stopped our friendship. Oh yeah, anyway about her shower. It was fun. Her older sister Mallory and I planned it. It was at a park and she had a lot of her friends come. I missed most of it because I was still running around getting things (that's how last minute I was on that day) but I really hope she liked it. She got some pretty crazy gifts let me tell you . . . that is just what happens when you get a bunch of girls together I guess.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun Nancy. Were you crying when you were writing about Megan? I was getting a little teared up. ;)
